To: ALL WORLD LEADERS and Ambassadors of ALL NATIONS

Date: August 5, 2002
From: Dan Koffman
Subject: FLAG OF PEACE and FREEDOM Message of Peace to All Nations

Dear (Specific World Leader/Ambassador),

This invitation has been sent today to all World Leaders and Ambassadors to join 31 other countries to raise the Flag of Peace and Freedom in your Nations Capital on the International Day of Peace this year.

The International Day of Peace, being celebrated on September 21st this year, was so declared in 1981 by the United Nations in their resolution 36/67, setting this day to consider the ideals of Peace and Freedom. (Note: on September 7, 2001, the United Nations proclaimed that as of 2002, The International Day of Peace will always fall on September 21st)

I designed the Flag of Peace and Freedom in 1984 and founded the Flag of Peace Organization in 1988. The images on the Flag depict two birds flying free as the sun pierces the gray clouds and shines down on the world . . . images of Peace and Freedom that all people can share, transcending words which can so often be misunderstood.

Every year, for the past fifteen years, I have corresponded with the Leaders of all the Nations of the World asking that they request the Flag of Peace and Freedom, sent at no charge, and fly it somewhere in their Nation’s Capital City on the International Day of Peace.

On the International Day of Peace in recent years, the Flag of Peace has flown over the Capitals of 30 countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belize, Brazil, The Cook Islands, Dominica, Egypt, Grenada, Hungary, India, Jordan, Kiribati, Malta, Morocco, Nauru, Nepal, New Zealand, The Northern Mariana Islands, Peru, the US. Virgin Islands, The British Virgin Islands, Saint Lucia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, The United Kingdom, Vanuatu and in the United States of America at Washington's Georgetown University.

It is suggested that you ask your Minister of Education to invite school children to participate in a simple Flag raising event. The children can read stories about Peace, recite poetry or sing songs. This simple action is a powerful reminder that our children benefit from a world at Peace.

Please communicate with me via e-mail, fax or letter to confirm your desire to participate in this International Peace effort. The Flag of Peace and Freedom will be sent at no cost as a gift to the people of your country. We ask that you advise a proper mailing address to which, we can send the Flag of Peace and Freedom.

"Imagine the Flag of Peace and Freedom flying over all the Nations of the World . . . all the People of the World sharing in a moment dedicated to the ideals of Peace and Freedom . . . What could happen next?"

We await your communication.

Yours sincerely in Peace,

Daniel Koffman
